Terms of Service

1. Purpose

These Terms of Service (hereinafter "ToS") define the terms and conditions of use of the Hekko service (hereinafter "the Service").

Hekko is a service that uses artificial intelligence to automatically transcribe and generate course notes and meeting summaries.

2. Acceptance of the ToS

Using the Service implies full and unconditional acceptance of these ToS. By creating an account or using the Service, the User acknowledges having read, understood, and accepted these ToS without reservation.

3. Definitions

  • Service: all features offered by Hekko, including audio transcription, note generation, and revision sheet creation.
  • User: any individual or legal entity using the Service.
  • Account: the User's personal space allowing them to access the Service.
  • Content: all data, text, audio files, and documents generated or imported by the User.

4. Registration and User Account

4.1 Account creation

To access the Service, the User must create an account by providing a valid email address and a secure password. The User guarantees the accuracy of the information provided.

4.2 Account security

The User is solely responsible for the confidentiality of their login credentials. Any use of the Service from their account is deemed to have been made by the User themselves.

5. Description of the Service

Hekko lets users record audio (courses, meetings), get an automatic transcript and generate structured notes or summaries using artificial intelligence. The Service offers, among others, the following features:

  • Real-time transcription: automatic conversion of audio to text during lectures
  • Structured note generation: automatic creation of pedagogical notes from the transcription
  • Revision sheets: generation of summaries and exam questions
  • Course organization: folder sorting and content search
  • Contextual chat: AI assistant to ask questions about course content

6. Terms of Use

6.1 Authorized use

The User agrees to use the Service:

  • For personal and educational purposes or, with Hekko Pro, professional purposes
  • In compliance with the rights of third parties
  • In accordance with applicable legislation

6.2 Prohibited uses

The following are strictly prohibited:

  • Recording private conversations without the consent of participants
  • Using the Service for illegal or fraudulent purposes
  • Sharing your account with third parties
  • Attempting to bypass the technical limitations of the Service
  • Using the Service to generate content that infringes copyright
  • Intentionally overloading the Service infrastructure
  • Mass extraction of data from the Service (scraping)
  • Reselling or redistributing the Service without authorization

6.3 Recording responsibility

The User agrees to obtain prior authorization from recorded individuals and to comply with applicable legislation regarding audio recording. Hekko cannot be held responsible for recordings made without the consent of the individuals concerned.

7. Intellectual Property

7.1 User Content

The User retains all intellectual property rights over the Content they import or generate through the Service. Content provided by the User as well as generated content belongs to them. Hekko claims no ownership rights over this content.

7.2 Service Ownership

The Service, including its source code, interface, algorithms, and brand, is the exclusive property of Hekko. Any unauthorized reproduction, modification, or use is prohibited.

8. Personal Data

The processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy.

8.1 Processing of audio recordings

Audio recordings are used exclusively to generate a transcript, notes or a summary. Audio files are not retained and are automatically deleted once the content has been generated.

8.2 Hekko's commitments

Hekko commits to:

  • Not selling Users' personal data
  • Not transferring any data to third parties for commercial purposes
  • Encrypting sensitive data
  • Allow data export ("Download my data", in Settings) and deletion
  • Complying with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

9. Pricing and Subscriptions

9.1 Plans

Hekko offers a free plan with limited features and paid subscriptions (monthly or annual) with extended features. Current pricing and features are available on the pricing page.

9.2 Payment

Payments are made by credit card through a secure payment provider. Payments are due in advance. Any subscription period that has begun is due in full. Subscriptions are automatically renewed unless canceled by the User.

9.3 No right of withdrawal

In accordance with Article L221-28 of the French Consumer Code, subscriptions providing access to digital content or an immediately delivered service do not give rise to a right of withdrawal.

No refund may be claimed in the event of:

  • Non-use of the Service
  • Early termination by the User

9.4 Cancellation

The User may cancel their subscription at any time from their personal space. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription period, without refund.

9a. Hekko Pro: terms for business customers

Hekko Pro is a plan for professionals and non-profit associations to record meetings and get a summary of them. This section applies to anyone who subscribes to Hekko Pro for the needs of their professional or non-profit activity (the "Business Customer"). It supplements the other sections and prevails over them in case of conflict.

Price and payment

The applicable prices are those shown on the pricing page at the time of subscription. For reference, as of October 16, 2026: €24.99 per month or €191.88 per year per seat on the web (payment via Stripe); €29.99 per month or €224.99 per year on the App Store and Google Play, under those platforms' terms. VAT not applicable, art. 293 B of the French General Tax Code (CGI).

Invoices

For a subscription taken out on the web, an invoice is issued for each payment and remains available from the subscription management area; it bears the mention "TVA non applicable, art. 293 B du CGI". For a purchase on the App Store or Google Play, the receipt is issued by Apple or Google.

No right of withdrawal

The right of withdrawal provided for by the French Consumer Code is reserved for consumers. It does not apply to a Business Customer who subscribes to Hekko Pro for the needs of their activity. The first free meetings let you try the Service before paying.

Cancellation and data after cancellation

The Business Customer may cancel at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period, with no refund for the period already started. After the subscription ends, meetings already recorded stay in the account and remain readable; features reserved for Hekko Pro (including recommendations, PDF export and meetings beyond the free trial) are no longer available. The Business Customer may at any time download their data from Settings or delete their account, which erases their meetings within 30 days.

Teams

A Hekko Pro team has 2 to 10 seats; beyond that, on quote. The person who takes out the team subscription (the payer) pays for all seats and alone manages billing; they assign and remove seats, alone or with the co-administrators they appoint. The payer and co-administrators see members' activity (number of meetings over 30 days, last activity), never the content of their meetings. A member removed from the team keeps their account and meetings; neither the payer nor the organization has access to those meetings, during or after their time in the team, unless the member shares them.

Data protection and DPA

For the meetings it records, the Business Customer is the controller of the participants' data and Hekko acts as a processor (Article 28 GDPR), under the conditions described in the Privacy Policy. A data processing agreement (DPA) is available on request at contact@hekko.ai.

Consent to recording

The Business Customer informs participants before any recording and obtains their consent where the law requires it. The Business Customer is solely responsible for complying with this obligation and for the recordings it makes. Recording a meeting or conversation without the participants' knowledge is prohibited. Hekko may suspend the account of a user who breaches this rule.

Recourse to the consumer mediator provided for in section 13 is reserved for consumers.

10. Limitation of Liability

10.1 Service availability

Hekko strives to ensure Service availability 24/7. However, Hekko does not guarantee uninterrupted availability and cannot be held responsible for temporary interruptions.

10.2 Transcription accuracy

The Service is provided "as is". Transcriptions and AI-generated content are provided for informational purposes only. Hekko does not guarantee their absolute accuracy and recommends that the User verify them.

10.3 Limitation

Hekko cannot be held liable in the event of:

  • Transcription errors
  • Data loss beyond its control
  • Non-compliant use of the Service

Hekko's total liability is limited to the amounts actually paid by the User during the preceding 12 months.

10.4 Service interruption or discontinuation

Hekko reserves the right to interrupt or discontinue the Service, particularly in the event of business cessation, major technical difficulties, or force majeure. In the event of permanent discontinuation of the Service before the end of an annual subscription, a pro-rata refund of the unused period may be issued.

11. Modification of the ToS

Hekko reserves the right to modify these ToS at any time. Users will be informed of substantial changes by email or notification within the Service. Continued use of the Service after modification constitutes acceptance of the new ToS.

12. Termination

12.1 By the User

The User may delete their account at any time from their account settings. This deletion results in the permanent deletion of all their data.

12.2 By Hekko

Hekko reserves the right to suspend or delete an account in the event of:

  • Violation of these ToS
  • Fraudulent or abusive use of the Service
  • Non-payment of amounts due

13. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction

These ToS are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, the User must first send a written complaint to contact@hekko.ai. If no satisfactory answer is received, the User may refer the matter free of charge to the consumer mediator CM2C (49 rue de Ponthieu, 75008 Paris, France – https://www.cm2c.net/declarer-un-litige.php – litiges@cm2c.net). Failing an amicable resolution, the French courts shall have sole jurisdiction.
